What is an Electric Bicycle? Is it worth my investment?

Posted by EBike Catalog on

An electric bicycle or commonly called E-Bike, is a bicycle with an integrated electric motor that can be used for propulsion.

Several kinds of e-bikes are available worldwide, from "pedelecs" which have a small motor that can assist the rider's pedal-power to more powerful "moped-style" e-bikes. All e-bikes retain the ability to be pedalled by the rider, that way they are not considered electric motorcycles.

E-bikes can travel from a speed of 25-32km/h (16-20 mph) up to 45km/h (28 mph) depending on the model and environment. This can be very useful for commuting without having the hassle of parking a car or larger vehicle.

Rechargeable batteries are used to provide power to the electric motor. This is a great way to go green and save on gas costs for your transportation.

Another advantage is that depending on local laws, most e-bikes are considered as a bicycle and not a moped or motorcycle, so they are not subject to license, registration and additional costs.

Bottom line, is it worth it? We think there are a lot of reasons why electric bicycles gain in popularity every year, whether you want to get in shape while having fun or commute  every day for your transportation needs, you can find an E-Bike that fits your needs here!
